ESPID Membership

You may be required to upload documents in support of your online application. Please read these instructions below in full, before continuing to the application process.

Anyone interested in PID field can become an ESPID member. Applications must be done online and are subject to acceptance by the ESPID board under the terms of Article 4 of the Association.

New members' applications are normally processed within 1 month.  Membership period runs from January to December per calendar year.

ESPID members are entitled to the following benefits:

  • Annual online subscription to the Pediatric Infectious Diseases Journal(PIDJ) (12 issues per year)
  • ESPID fellowships and awards (subject to "good standing member" status)
  • Apply to any of the Committee & Board vacancies (subject to "good standing member" status)
  • Access to the new ESPID Education platform (education.espid.org)
  • Reduced registration fees for ESPID Annual Meetings
  • Discounted participation in a number of prestigious scientific courses
  • Voting rights
  • Various opportunities to be part of the annual meeting such as 'Meet the expert' and more

Please note it is the responsibility of the ESPID Member to ensure they are in good standing should they wish to be active with ESPID in any capacity i.e. Board, Committees, Awards, representing ESPID in a formal capacity (subject to Boards approval and discretion) etc. New Members are required to build their good standing points by participating as per the criteria found here: good standing member. Once they have achieved the required minimum of 7 points, members should continue to follow the criteria each year to allow them to maintain being an ESPID Member in good standing (7 points minimum required) - good standing member where possible.  If you apply and are successful in any of the the activities mentioned previously it is your responsibility to ensure you continue to be a member in good standing (minimum 7points). Application 

Please note that all the applications received after September 30th will be automatically considered as applications for the following year.

Please complete all sections including qualifications (mandatory) and details of Professional Registration (if appropriate). 

Young ESPID Member:Young ESPID is a group of members who are in training and early career, generally under 40 years. If you feel you meet this criteria please tick the 'Young ESPID member' box within the application form. Please note that the current ESPID member who would support your application does not need to be a senior ESPID member, they simply need to be a current member.

You must include the name of a current ESPID member who supports your application. We will check this approval before your application is processed. If you do not know a current ESPID member that could support your application please email admin@espid.org for further guidance. If you are applying for a Trainee category, you will be required to upload or provide a completed Trainee Declaration Form (required in first year only). Please have this ready to upload in a suitable format (gif/jpg/doc/pdf/txt).

There are several categories of ESPID membership and their annual fees:

  • Online Membership (Euro 120) - PIDJ online access.
  • Members in Training (Euro 60) - members who are training in PID (valid only for 3 consecutive years. After the 3 years membership will be automatically upgraded to full membership at the relevant cost) - In addition non-clinicians undertaking training in related areas may be permitted this status at the discretion of the Board. PIDJ online access. 
  • Members from Resource Limited Countries (Euro 50) – members who live in one of the listed resource limited countries - PIDJ online access

Renewal

  • If you have been a member of ESPID previously (in the last 3 years), but have let your membership lapse, you can rejoin now, without paying for the missing years. However, your membership will only count from the year of rejoining for the purposes of "good standing" points which make you eligible for awards and other benefits.
  • Note that it is not possible to pay for membership for the current year after 30th September. 
  • The membership year runs from January-December annually however renewal for the next year begins on the 1st October.

New applicants should be aware if they apply and make payment for their membership before the 1st October and pay online, another payment will be taken on or around the 1st October as payment for the following year.
